Now, That Looks Awfully Familiar

Wilar Bayou’s site (screenshot) looks mighty familiar, wouldn’t you agree? I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I’m almost certain I’ve seen that very design somewhere else. Perhaps you did, too?

  1. Well - if it’s not a template (;-]) - it’s a case for pirated sites!

  2. Nah, of course it isn’t a template :)

Perhaps Mr. Bayou thinks that, so I thought I’d mention it to him, but he surprisingly does not reply my e-mails. :/

  3. The funny thing is that he didn’t even change the title.

    Author: Ben, November 8th, 2005 at 22:25

  4. @Ben: He’ll get to that, right now he’s having trouble with my CSS, apparently :)

He also forgot to change the title on his other blog. Does that one also remind you guys of something? :)

  5. I just stumbled upon your site from Stylegala forums and wow, this guy is just ridiculous. Hope you solve your problems soon!

  6. did you check “his” sourcecode?

    they say at the end:

    – Gorgeous design by Michael Heilemann - http://binarybonsai.com/kubrick/

thats what the source says lol

  7. Have you tried contacting his hosting company to see if they will pull it? There needs to be something that designers can do other than just posting on pirated-sites (and others).

  8. Hi Bojan, I’m cyber-51 from Godote Forum… This guy really brings the shame to Indonesia… And he doesn’t even care what we said about him. To tell you the truth, that happens A LOT here…

    He’s just a plain idiot, that’s all…

  9. @nono: we all know perfectly well what Kubrick is. What “his” source says is “Yesterdayishere.com Screen Stylesheet…”.

@Joshua: thanks for the advice, I’ll try that.

    @Bellamy: welcome :)

  10. hi bojan.
my friend has put this pirated case here.

    nice to know you ;)

    Author: Deny, November 9th, 2005 at 14:02

  11. @Deny: ah, there’s that screenshot… I’ve already been informed your design has also been ripped. Thanks :)

    Author: Bojan, November 9th, 2005 at 14:15

  12. Ouch! What a blatant rip! With your two examples, and seeing in the forum that he also stole Deny’s design I have to wonder what this guy thinks he’s doing. There are plenty of great Wordpress templates if he wants a free layout and it’s far easier to drop one of those in than to steal a very custom personal site. Sorry to hear about this Bojan and I hope in the long run that he looks dumb (which he does) and you benefit from the traffic.

PS - I just noticed that you got rid of the barcode in your footer. Now nobody can blame us for ripping off each others designs. :)

  13. @Jason: Thanks.. About the barcode, well, you’ve missed it, I got rid of that a while ago (read “The Outside” bit).

  14. Bojan, how large is this site in bytes or KB’s?*

And do you know who his host is?

*I have an idea, but not sure how long it would take without this info. You can use the email I supplied if you don’t want to post it here.

Author: Joshua Kendall, November 9th, 2005 at 16:45

  15. @Joshua… Hm, you have my attention. I’ll e-mail you :)

    Author: Bojan, November 9th, 2005 at 16:55

  16. Guys, I’m constructing a website at Geocities to put his rips up for public. The Godote members are collecting all the info we can about this guy, the comments we posted on his site, and of course, screenshots of his rips… I’ll keep you posted once we get the pages running.

  17. Guys, here’s the site… feel free to read it

  18. Let’s hope he decides to make something a bit more original soon… Then you could remove “The Tale” and we could all sweep this under the rug.

    Author: Bojan, November 11th, 2005 at 12:25

  19. Agree… I hope he really LEARNS from his mistakes, unlike now. (I really can’t understand why he is so stubborn when everyone’s bitching him in his own blog… sigh…).

  20. Heh That’s really bad I can do it better :)
    Shame on him !
    Cheers m8

  21. wow, and I thought only teenage girls can be that stupid (I had some layout theft issues)… but not to remove the title, this is just… LOL :)
